Putting Baby To Sleep....

Ok a few of you are wondering how I got Brooklyn to sleep through the night so quickly...well it wasn't easy. There is a way to do it...it's called feberizing (just Google Feberize). It goes like this...well this is the way we did it: Ok, for starters she has been sleeping in our bed for the last 5 1/2 months. We didn't mind it too much, except I don't sleep very well. She is way too wiggly. So, Sunday night we tried it. Put her to sleep and stuck her in the crib about 9:40ish. At 10:00 she woke up. You're supposed to let them cry theirselves back to sleep...as long as it takes. It was the hardest thing I have EVER done. I am not one to just let her cry. But we were out in the living room together (Brock and I) and he held me back and told me to wipe the tears and just let her do it. She needed to learn. About 10:30 she stopped suddenly. I was worried and went-quietly-to check on her. She had laid herself down and was going back to sleep. We slept on the couch-no sleep for me, I was too worried about my baby-all alone. About 2:30 she woke again and cried for about 15 minutes, laid herself to sleep and we went in there about 5:00. She coughed herself awake and I brought her in bed. we slept til 7:30. Each night since, if she wakes up in the middle of the night, she cries 10-20 minutes and then lays back down and goes to sleep. She only wakes once in the middle of the night, but always goes back to sleep within minutes!! I have slept through her cries...just because for medical reasons I am taking Ambien CR-a small dose. Brock says it wakes him, but it doesn't bother him. She is a smart cookie. It only took her only a few nights to catch on!

Walking and Sleeping!!

So...she finally did it. She walked on her own. No poking or prodding from mom or dad. Just stood up and walked to the couch. I guess I should add that we have been encouraging her the last few days. I just didn't think she would catch on that quick!!! She was 10 months, 3 weeks. She's just a little tike though. It's strange to see such a little person walking. It's so cute though!!! Another milestone: She is now sleeping the whole night in her crib...though it's still in our bedroom. But! She did it and it only took one really rough night and a few whimpers the last few nights, but last night she did it!! Yea!! We are so proud of our little monste...I mean angel!

Waving and clapping...but not walking!

So...not much new happening here. Let's see...my wild child waves now and she learned to clap. Those actually happened a few weeks ago. My visiting teachers came over one day and out of the blue she started waving to them!! That same night she clapped her hands with glee. What a smart cookie. Still not walking. I think she's decided that it's more convenient to crawl. Takes too much time and effort to learn how to walk. Though she does everything but walk. She cruises along furniture and stands in the middle of the room. She even has taken a few steps...just no interest in walking-that's fine with me though. She is busy enough crawling!!!
